Armen Agop

   

Armen Agop was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1969. He began his training by working as an apprentice in the studio of painter Simon Shahrigian and later studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Helwan University in Cairo. After graduating in 1992, he got a scholarship as a research assistant at the same university. His works were thus presented in numerous exhibitions throughout Egypt. In 1998 Armen Agop received the Autumn Salon Sculpture Award and in 2000 he won the Rome Award, an international recognition. Moving to Europe, Agop begins to become more and more present on the international art scene with exhibitions throughout Asia, the Middle East and Europe. His works are exhibited in Egypt at the Museum of Egyptian Modern Art in Cairo and at the Open Air Museum in Aswan; in Florida (USA) at the Coral Springs Art Museum and in Doha (Qatar) at the Mathaf, Arab Museum of Modern Art. In 2010 he received the Umberto Mastroianni International Award. Today Armen Agop lives and works in Pietrasanta, Italy.
