Yves Dana

Yves Dana was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1959.

Graduated in Sociology at the Lausanne University and in Fine Arts in Geneva, the artist inaugurated his first atelier in 1979 and six years later he devoted himself entirely to sculpture.

In 1982 he  presented his first exhibition: 20 mechanical and sound producing works together with some of his first iron works. While numerous solo exhibitions raised attention on Dana’s work, both in Switzerland and abroad, the artist evolved: he became more and more confident, mastering the use of space, thanks also to the monumental sculptures he realized. In 1996 Dana went back to Egypt for a temporary stay after which his artistic production returned to simpler, solemn shapes. The "steles" series was thus created and two years later, Dana realized his first work in stone, a material with which he will work exclusively from 2002. Dana's works are exhibited in various personal and collective exhibitions, including galleries, fairs and international exhibitions such as the Fondazione Pomodoro in Milan, ART Basel, ART Miami, FIAC Paris, KIAF Seoul and Guggenheim in Bilbao.

He lives and works in Lausanne.
